Metallic Text
1.

First, let's create a new 200 x 50 pixel image. Fill the background with your favorite color. Now, using the rectangular marquee tool, select the bottom half of the canvas.

2.

Copy your selection and use it to create a new layer. Using the Linear Gradient Tool, draw a gradient on the bottom half of the canvas. Choose 2 gray/silvery color. It should look somewhat like the example below

3.

Now select the upper part of the rectangle, and use the gradient from bottom to top, but this time use medium gray and white. This will be the metallic texture that you will use on your text. Now go Select > All and cut your selection.

4.

Now, let's add our text to the picture. Hold down the Type Tool and choose Type Mask Tool. Type in your text. Now use the gradient tool from top to bottom using dark grey to white color. With the selection still active, press CTRL + SHIFT + V to paste our earlier texture.

5.

I changed my background to a darker color for a better result. Here is what my final image look like.
