Homestead Reviews
Review : Homestead has been one of the most popular web hosts for both personal and business websites in the past. They have a great site builder which can be downloaded and you can work on your websites offline. The site builder is very easy to use, and I would strongly recommend it for beginners. The customer service department is terrific. When I asked a question, someone would email me with an answer within a day or two. In exchange for their terrific service, Homestead will place their banner advertisement on the bottom frame of your website. So, why did I give them a low rating?

As of the past recent month, Homestead has made some major changes to their service. They now only offer a very basic free service called Homestead Personal Preview which only allows 8MB of webpace and users are only allowed to have a maximum of 3 pages per site. The web tools and support is also very limited for the Homestead Personal Preview Service. In addition, you can only create your web page online. Their terrific Sitebuilder is only available with upgrade, which cost $2.50 (if you sign up for a year's contract). Plus there will be no option to remove Homestead branding from your pages, and the banners are worse than the previous one.

On the bright side, if you are willing to pay for your web hosting needs, Homestead offers a great Homestead Personal Members Plan. This plan came with a new and improved version of their downloadable Sitebuilder, 25MB of storage space, unlimited number of websites and unlimited pages per site. You also have an option to remove the advertisements. Best of all, you can work on your pages offline and Homestead guarantees a professional customer service.

I would only recommend Homestead for beginners who don't plan on learning how to use HTML or fans of Homestead Sitebuilder. If you are an experienced web maker and know how to use HTML, I would recommend you to find another webhost. Homestead is good but there are better hosts out there. If you need help with learning HTML, please feel free to email me with your questions, or do visit Lissa Explains or HTML Goodies for great tutorials on HTML.
